Central California Blood Center Night!!!  Fireworks and a jersey auction will add to the game’s festivities.

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA, CA – Whole blood donors making their second or more donation, and Apheresis donors making their third or more donation of the year, will receive a commemorative Grizzlies T-shirt, while supplies last, from the Central California Blood Center for helping maintain a safe and adequate blood supply during June, July and August.  In addition, donors will receive a variety of discounts from Valley businesses for dining, recreation, entertainment, and services. 

“This is the beginning of a challenging donation period for the Blood Center.  With all the end-of-the-school year activities, graduations, weddings, along with summer vacations – it is easy to have donating slip your mind,” says Chris Sorensen, Director of Community Relations and Development for the Blood Center.  “Please celebrate your good health and your loved ones’ by giving to help those in Valley hospitals not as fortunate and then let’s ‘play ball’.” 

Blood donation takes less than one hour to complete. Donors must be in good general health, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old. Senior citizens are encouraged to donate, as there is no upper age limit. Donors should eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within 4 hours prior to their donation. Donors can give blood every eight weeks. Photo ID and Social Security Number are required at donor registration. 

The Central California Blood Center is the sole provider of blood and blood products for the 31 hospitals in Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings and Mariposa Counties and must collect between 5,000 to 6,000 pints of blood a month to meet the needs of our Valley community.
